Harris still lacks specifics about how she'd govern differently from President Biden

Despite major legislation passed under President Joe Biden, like the Bipartisan Infrastructure Lawin Nov. 2021 and the Inflation Reduction Actin Aug. 2022, some things have been widely criticized, raising concerns for American voters.

This includes the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan, the record numbers of migrants arriving at our Southern border and, most of all, record-high inflation.

These are a few reasons why some were surprised to hear this exchange from Vice President Kamala Harris earlier this month, during an Oct. 8 appearance on The View.

Co-host Sunny Hostin asked Harris, "Would you have done something differently than President Biden over the last four years?"

"There is not a thing that comes to mind," Harris said.

Former President Donald Trump has played a clip of that exchange during some of his rallies, including on Tuesday at a Greensboro, North Carolina rally.

Since the initial interview, Harris has changed her tune, including in an interview last week with Bret Baier of Fox News.

"Let me be very clear," Harris said, "My presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Biden’s presidency."

But when asked for specifics, including at a CNN Town Hall Wednesday night, they’ve been limited.

During a post-Town Hall analysis, CNN's Erin Burnett said, "Every interview she’s done since has asked that question. It’s a very basic question. It got asked again tonight. And the answer was still, there was still not an answer to it."

David Urban, a former Trump campaign adviser agreed.

“If you're going to be different than Biden and if your message is 'turn the page, we're turning the page,' like you got to give some specific answers how are you going to turn the page?”

However, Harris has stayed on message on how she’d differentiate herself from Trump. She has repeatedly made the case that he is a danger to democracy.

“He's going to sit there, unstable, unhinged, plotting his revenge, plotting his retribution, creating an enemies list. I'm going to tell you, my list will be a list of how I address, and continue to address, the issues that you all are raising this afternoon, in the evening. It will be a to-do list," Harris said.

She’s said in the past she’d prefer not to criticize her current boss, including in an interview with NBC's Peter Alexander, who asked,“What is one policy you would have done differently over the last three and a half years than President Biden?

She responded, "Well to be very candid with you and even Mike Pence, vice presidents are not critical of their presidents."

But with less than two weeks until Election Day, and with both national and battleground state polls showing her slightly sliding, some worry her lack of details could lead to a loss in votes.
