This presidential election has shattered norms in all kinds of ways, so perhaps it's appropriate that Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are not sticking to the traditional campaign playbook in the final week and a half before Election Day.

For Harris, it means going to deep-red Texas. During a rally in Houston Friday focused on reproductive rights, she will be joined by Beyoncé and Rep. Colin Allred, D-Texas, who's in a neck-and-neck Senate race against incumbent Republican Sen. Ted Cruz.

We are here to really highlight that sadly, the elected leaders of Texas, a lot of them have made Texas ground zero in this fundamental fight for the freedom of women to make decisions about their own body," Harris told reporters Friday afternoon.

Trump was also in Texas Friday to appear on "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast, which draws a predominantly male audience.

“He knows that he’s got an edge there, not just among white male voters but he’s starting to get some more votes from non-white male voters and he’s looking to build upon that," said Professor Todd Belt, the Political Management program director at George Washington University.

On Sunday, instead of covering ground in a swing state, Trump will hold a rally at Madison Square Garden in deep blue New York City.

Ronald Reagan would have 350 people, 400 people, we sell out these things, 25,000 people at Madison Square Garden because we use the floor," Trump said at a rally in Greensboro, N.C. Tuesday.

Harris will deliver a major speech on Tuesday, exactly one week before Election Day, in Washington on the Ellipse, the same location Trump delivered his infamous speech on January 6before his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol. Her closing argument is expected to be about preserving democracy.

“The American people are being presented with a very serious decision. And it includes what we must understand will happen starting on January 20," Harris said Thursday in Atlanta.

In these final days, Belt said last-minute undecided voters often make their decision based on a candidate's personal characteristics, not necessarily their policies.

“The difficulty here is that we know these candidates pretty well even though there are some people who still don’t think they know Kamala Harris that well," Belt said. "But it’s really going to be these candidates getting out and showing people they can be trusted, that they provide good leadership and that they have the experience and qualifications for office.”
