Former Michigan Congressman Fred Upton is expected to be the latest Republican to endorse Democratic nominee Kamala Harris for president.

Thursday, Upton is set to join Dave Trott, a former Michigan congressman and current Co-Chair of Michigan Republicans fort Harris-Walz, for a virtual press conference confirming his endorsement, according to officials.

Both are also expected to call on other Republicans to back the current vice president, and warn of "the threat of a second Trump-term," officials said.

Thursday's endorsement comes two days ahead of Kamala Harris' visit to Detroit and Kalamazoo with former First Lady Michelle Obama on Saturday.

Details on the venue for the event have not been disclosed.

In addition to Upton and Trott, the following Republicans have also endorsed Harris for the presidency:

  • Susan Ford Bales, daughter of former Michigan Congressman and President Gerald Ford
  • Former Republican Congressman Joe Schwarz
  • Jim Murray, Bill Nowling and Jimmy Greene - Republicans who served on Nikki Haley's Michigan leadership team for her campaign
