After speaking to local entrepreneurs receiving Motor City Match funding, Vice President Joe Biden made a side trip to the North American International Auto Show before heading to Chicago for President Barack Obama’s farewell speech.

Entering through the back doors of Cobo Center, the vice president made his way through the displays of the Detroit Three automakers, starting with Fiat Chrysler and Ford, then ending up in the General Motors area of the convention hall.

Vice President Biden took time to speak to major executives at all the brands and sat in cars along the way – including a deep blue 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. All told, Vice President Biden spent about an hour on the show floor.

As he was leaving the General Motors area, he took time to talk to auto show worker Kenneth Knott, one of the floor workers who was dusting off a commercial grade Chevrolet Silverado with the Duramax 6.6-liter diesel engine.

Shaking Knott’s hand, the vice president asked: “Is this your truck?”

“No, but I wish,” Knott said.

As Biden walked away in an entourage that was three-deep with Secret Service and Detroit Metro Police, Knott continued to smile widely as he went back to dusting off the Silverado.
