In simultaneous events spanning three continents – Asia, Europe and North America – Porsche premiered the all-new, all-electric 2020 Taycan.

This is the first fully electric vehicle from the automaker and sets the tone for the brand’s future.

The Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo will be quickly followed by less powerful variants with the Taycan Cross Turismo being in play by the end of next year.

Porsche stated in a press release that by 2022, it will have invested $6 billion in electric mobility.

So, if this is the future of Porsche, it looks bright. And fast.

The Taycan Turbo S will deliver up to 750 horsepower and sports a 0-to-60-mph time of 2.6 seconds. The Taycan Turbo doesn’t lag far behind, delivering up to 670 horsepower and offering a 0-to-60-mph time of 3.0 seconds.

Both models will have a top speed of 161 mph.

Expected range for the Taycan Turbo S will be between 241 and 256 miles. For reference, this is enough range to take you on a one-way trip from Chicago to Indianapolis. It’s also just enough range to take a round trip between Los Angeles and San Diego.

If that isn’t enough to combat range anxiety, the fact that the battery can be charged from 5 percent to 80 percent in 22.5 minutes also helps.

Rather than wax poetic about the design, we’ve included every photo Porsche has released of the Taycan in the attached photo gallery.

However, it’s worth calling attention to the interior infotainment display, which includes a central 10.9-inch screen and an available passenger display.

Also of note: Porsche will offer an entirely leather-free interior option for the first time.

The Porsche Taycan will start at $150,900, and the Taycan Turbo S will start at $185,000.

In comparison, a top-tier Tesla Model S Performance model will start around $120K.
