NAIAS 2019: Cadillac set to reveal new XT6 crossover on eve of Detroit Auto Show
DETROIT-- The 2019 North American International Auto Show officially begins when media preview days begin on Monday but General Motors luxury brand Cadillac get the wheels rolling with an elaborate event where the star attraction will be the new 2020 XT6 crossover vehicle.
With this introduction, Cadillac is expanding its popular, but model-lacking crossover and SUV lineup which, right now, includes only the full-size Escalade SUV and the XT5 mid-size crossover. The XT6 brings an option to Cadillac customers who want three-row seating without the behemoth vehicle size of the Escalade ESV. Cadillac says the XT6 offers a luxurious adaptable and connected cabin, complemented with responsive handling and a comprehensive suite of standard and available safety technologies.
“The first-ever Cadillac XT6 delivers a compelling blend of spaciousness, safety and convenience features for customers who thrive on doing it all,” said Steve Carlisle, Cadillac president. “From luxurious appointments, comfort and convenience to premium sound and technology features, every passenger gets an optimized experience.”

Features include a comprehensive suite of standard and available driver assistance and safety technologies along with generous cargo capacity, the latest Cadillac User Experience (CUE) with intuitive controls including a rotary controller with new jog functionality, and a nimble, responsive driving experience, powered by a 3.6L V-6 engine, with an estimated 310 horsepower, and nine-speed automatic transmission with up to four selectable driving modes. Also, GM's Active Fuel Management system enables V-4 operation when V-6 power is not required, enhancing fuel efficiency.
Customers who desire more customized looks with unique exterior and interior distinctions can choose from Premium Luxury and Sport models. “Premium Luxury models provide an elevated level of refinement, while Sport models offer a performance-oriented feel,"said John Plonka, chief engineer.
Like its corporate cousins, the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave, the Cadillac XT6 will ride on the long wheelbase version of GM's C1 platform, but will be manufactured at the Spring Hill (Tennessee) Assemblyplant along side the Cadillac XT5 and GMC Acadia which both ride on the C1's short wheelbase version. Cadillac dealers will begin accepting orders for the XT6 this spring. Pricing will be announced closer to when production begins.

The Cadillac XT6 debut is scheduled for Sunday night at the Garden Theater on Woodward Avenue in Detroit's Midtown section. The private media event begins at 6:30 p.m.
