AmazonNow, there's something else that Alec Baldwin and Missy Elliot can do with Amazon Alexa: Start a Genesis G90.
If you're not familiar with Alexa, it's a voice-operated digital assistant, like Apple's Siri, Microsoft Cortana, or Google Now. It runs on a growing family of Amazon devices like Amazon Echo and Fire TV, allowing users to access a range of applications, including music, search and streaming video services.

Last week, we learned that Alexa can interface with the Genesis Motors line of luxury vehicles, too.
To get started, owners have to crack open the Alexa app on an iOS, Android or Fire device, enable the Genesis "skill" (i.e. give Alexa permission to control certain features of the car), then give Alexa their Genesis Connected Services Account number (to ensure that Alexa controls the right car). As an added layer of security, Alexa will ask owners for their Genesis PIN, too.
After all that's done, Genesis owners will be able to carry out a number of functions through Alexa. For example, saying "Alexa, tell Genesis to start my car at 70 degrees" will--no surprise--remote-start the vehicle and turn the thermostat to 70. Owners will also be able to lock, unlock, and stop their cars remotely, as well as honk a car's horn and flash its headlights.

Genesis is the first automaker to offer Alexa integration, but other vehicles from other automakers will almost certainly follow. For those who don't have an Alexa device, Genesis is providing Genesis G90 owners with complimentary Amazon gift cards, which can be applied to a purchase.
