It’s four guys versus the ocean in the new “Not Without Hope” trailer, a harrowing survival tale based on a true story.

Everything seems calm at first, as the friends, Nick Schuyler (Zachary Levi) and Will Bleakley (Marshall Cook), both former University of South Florida football players, and NFL players, Marquis Cooper (Quentin Plair) and Corey Smith (Terrence Terrell) head out on the water for a day of fishing.

But things take a turn when an unexpected storm rolls in, capsizing the boat and stranding the men at sea 70 miles off the coast of Clearwater, Florida.

Josh Duhamel also stars as Coast Guard Captain Timothy Close, charged with overseeing the efforts to rescue the four and bring them home safely.

As Captain Close works with rescue teams to locate the men, the open water and dangerous weather threaten to overtake them. Drowning, hypothermia, dehydration, starvation, sharks, and low morale all loom over the friends as they struggle to survive.

“I get strong, you get strong, we get strong!” they chant together, as a means to fortify their faith that they will see a rescue.

Meanwhile, their families, including Nick’s mom, played by JoBeth Williams, are stuck waiting for answers as Captain Close and his team race against time to find them.

“Not Without Hope” is directed by Joe Carnahan, who helmed another survival thriller classic, “The Grey,” starring Liam Neeson. Carnahan also co-wrote the movie with E. Nicholas Mariani, based on Schuyler and Jeré Longman’s best-selling 2010 book of the same name.

The movie is being released by Inaugural Entertainment, and a documentary, titled “Four Down,” also based on the story, is being released after “Not Without Hope” finishes its run in theaters.

“Not Without Hope” is in theaters December 12.
