MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) – A South Carolina boy's dream came true after a video of him singing Wagon Wheel by Darius Rucker on Twitter was noticed by a local radio DJ – and the singer himself!
Jeremiah got the surprise of a lifetime whenGator 107.9 co-host Jeff Bentontold him he was going backstage at the Carolina Country Music Festival in Myrtle Beach to meet Darius Rucker.
"What he didn't know is that moments after he saw me, he was taken backstage to sing Wagon Wheel with Darius Rucker !! Night made!" Benton said on Facebook.
Benton is a well-known radio personality on the Grand Strand when he is not serving the Horry County Sheriff's Department.
There are videos of Jeremiah singing on Twitter to Wagon Wheel all the way back to 2013.
His sister said after they walked away, he mentioned how awesome it was and made her call every member of their family so he could tell them he got to sing Wagon Wheel and that Rucker knew his name.
After the surprise meeting, he even got to hang out in the VIP tent for a little while.
"The power of the internet!" Benton said.
