Woman alleges Wayne Newton's pet monkey attacked daughter

Wayne Newton's wifeKathleen McCrone Newton issued the following statement:

“With regard to this lawsuit, we have not seen the complaint, but our company ceased running Casa de Shenandoah July 1, 2017, due to Wayne’s almost dying from a spider bite. So we are not a party and have no idea what happened in Oct. 2017.”

A woman alleges a monkey kept as a pet by Wayne Newton attacked her daughter in 2017, according to a lawsuit filed this week.

The complaint, filed by Jocelyne Urena, states the monkey "viciously attacked and bit" Urena's daughter "without any provocation"during a tour of Casa de Shenandoah.

As a result of the attack, the daughter needed medical treatment and could require more treatment in the future, according to the complaint filed in Clark County District Court.

Newton "knew, or should have known, that the monkey had a propensity for viciousness and/or a propensity to bite and/or attack," the complaint alleges.

Urena is seeking more than $15,000 in damages, along with special and punitive damages.

Neither the attorney representing Urena nor a publicist for Newton immediately responded to requests for comment.
