Why Ariana Grande did THIS to 'hide away' after tragedy
Famous pop star and former Boca Raton native, Ariana Grande, announced on Tuesday that her grandmother, Marjorie Granda, aka Nonna, has died at 99, according to reports. Grande, famous for songs like "Yes And" and "The Boy is Mine", shared the news on her Instagram stories in a family statement that read, "We are devastated to share that the beloved matriarch of our family has passed away." Ariana Grande is revealing some of her fashion choices had more meaning than others.
In a video for Vogue’s Life in Looks series, she shared that a photo of herself in an oversized sweatshirt and long boots was from "a very strange time in my life.”
The image was from 2018, when the singer and actress lost her ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, to an accidental drug overdose. It also was several months after the terrorist attack on her concert in Manchester, England.
"I was processing a lot, and I always wanted to hide away in something really cozy,” Grande said. "But I remember that the boots still made me feel ****. I genuinely, at the time, did not have the mental energy to consider clothing. So the easiest thing for me was to throw on a sweatshirt and a ***** boot and that was how it happened."
Grande recently admitted she thinks it would be "healthy" for her to take a career break after pushing herself since finding fame as a teenager in the Nickelodeon series “Victorious.”
She told Vogue Japan, "I think that it would probably be healthy. I'm not used to taking breaks. But I do know that I grew so much from taking space from music while I was filming ‘Wicked...’ But yeah, these past few years have been pretty non-stop. And by few, I mean 15."
The “Wicked: For Good” actress explained that she is searching for more "balance" in the years to come.
"Balance is the goal for the next 15 years. I don't think they will look like the previous 15 years. I think there will be more balance,” she said.
