Congratulations, you made it to the weekend. But what now? It’s not quite spring and we’re still a week away from the release of the must-see triumphant known as “Dune: Part Two.” You might be mistaken to believe that there’s nothing worth watching. I’m here to tell you that you are wrong. You have at least 15 options.

Those in search of a shared theatrical experience have at least “Drive-Away Dolls,” a queer comedy about a road trip gone awry from director/co-writer Ethan Coen, “Stopmotion,” a creepy thriller that explores a stop-motion filmmaker’s psychological disintegration following the hospitalization of her emotionally abusive mother, and “Ordinary Angels,” a faith-based film starring Hilary Swank.

Prefer to stay inside? Celebrated drama “All of Us Strangers” has arrived on Hulu (and digital retailers), and A24’s phenomenal WWII drama “The Zone of Interest” and the mainstream box busters “Mean Girls” and “Anyone But You” have made their way to digital retailers.

Other streaming options include Netflix’s live-action adaptation of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” (it’s much better than the theatrical film from 2010), the final season of “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” a Lionel Messi documentary, Apple TV+’s sci-fi thriller “Constellation” and so much more.

Orlando, My Political Biography (The Criterion Channel)

Studio Synopsis: “Come, come! I’m sick to death of this particular self. I want another.” Taking Virginia Woolf’s novel “Orlando: A Biography” as its starting point, academic virtuoso turned filmmaker Paul B. Preciado has fashioned the documentary ORLANDO: MY POLITICAL BIOGRAPHY as a personal essay, historical analysis, and social manifesto that premiered and took home four prizes at the 2023 Berlin Film Festival. For almost a century, Woolf’s eponymous hero/heroine has inspired readers for their gender fluidity across physical and spiritual metamorphoses over a three-hundred-year lifetime. Preciado casts a diverse cross section of more than twenty trans and nonbinary individuals in the role of Orlando as they perform interpretations of scenes from the novel, weaving into Woolf’s narrative their own stories of identity and transition. Not content to simply update a seminal work, Preciado interrogates the relevance of Orlando in the continuing struggle against antitrans ideologies and in the fight for global trans rights.
