LOS ANGELES (WKRC) — An MCU actor, who had played his role since 2014, has been replaced by Marvel Studios.
According to ScreenGeek, Marvel Studios has a reputation of replacing its actors for a variety of reasons, which include scheduling conflicts, creative differences or other unforeseen circumstances. Per the outlet, it isn't known exactly why the studio made its latest replacement.
Vin Diesel has done the voicework for Groot since 2014's "Guardians of the Galaxy." He played the role twice in 2023: in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3," as well as the second season of "I Am Groot," an animated spin-off.
Per the outlet, Diesel has handed off the role to animator and voice actor Fred Tatisciore for the first episode of the Disney Plus series "What If...?"
It was unclear if Diesel planned on reprising the role of Groot in the future.
