LAS VEGAS (KSNV) -- The television show that was born from one of President Donald Trump’s more “spacey” initiatives had its first teaser trailer drop on Tuesday.
“Space Force,” inspired by the newest branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, stars Steve Carell, John Malkovich and Ben Schwartz, who most recently voiced the eponymous speed demon in the blockbuster "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie.
The Netflix show, which is developed by Carrell and one of the men responsible for the U.S. version of The Office, Greg Daniels, is set to premiere on May 29.
The plot seems simple enough. Carrell’s character, General Mark Naird, is tasked with getting the sixth branch of the Armed Forces up and running.
The show was announced in January 2019 shortly after the Trump administration directed the Pentagon to begin the process that would eventually lead to the formation of Space Force.
The new ‘Space Force’ trailer, meanwhile, reveals that Carrell’s character isn’t thrilled about taking command of the military branch and apparently deals with his issues by singing and dancing to Beach Boys hits.
Plus, we get a look at Gen. Naird testifying before Congress while being accused of militarizing space.
Netflix subscribers can expect 10 episodes for the first season.
