COLUMBUS, Ohio (SBG) —A petition to rename the city of Columbus, Ohio is cooking up a flavorful alternative.

The petition has quickly gained thousands of signatures.

Tyler Woodbridge created the petition, saying the community needs a new name altogether. Woodbridge's petition is pushing for the city to be renamed to "Flavortown, Ohio."

"Columbus is an amazing city, but one whose name is tarnished by the very name itself," the petition reads."

The name change is in honor of celebrity foodie and Columbus native, Guy Fieri. Woodbridge further argues for the switch, adding the new proposal also honors central Ohio's proud culinary heritage.

The petition was nearing 30,000 signatures as of Monday morning.
