TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) - If you've ever wanted to play your way to fame, now's your chance.
Nintendo is bringing back the "Nintendo World Championships" for 2017. The competition will include qualifying events at eight Best Buy stores across the country before the main event in New York in October.
The qualifiers will be held over four weekends in eight cities:
The qualifying rounds will be decided by a time trial run in "Mario Kart 7" for the Nintendo 3DS. Players in two age groups (12 and under, 13 and older) will get two tries to score the best time on a pre-determined track and with a pre-determined character. The winner will then qualify for an invitation to the finals in New York.
The winner of the final competition, which will feature a variety of games, will receive a trophy worth nearly $2,800, according to Nintendo.
