Matt and Ross Duffer created “Stranger Things” 10 years ago and are struggling to say goodbye to the cast and crew.

“I’m never going to spend 10 years on something again, I don’t think, where you become this much of a family with the people who are working on it,” Matt told Variety. It was really hard.”

He continued, “Each day was saying goodbye. Each of those actors only had to say goodbye once. Ross and I had to do it four different times. Every time I’m like, ‘I’m not going to break!’ And I broke every time.”

The Duffer Brothers already have another deal lined up at Paramount, but haven’t given any thought as to what comes next while they focus on bringing their mega hit Netflix series to an end.

“I couldn’t think about it anymore, because we’re just back in working on ‘Stranger Things.’ I’ve actually stopped thinking about the future entirely,” Matt said.

Ross added, “And we’ve spent 10 years on this. We’re trying to put 100% energy in just making sure we land this plane. So no thought is going elsewhere at the moment.”

His brother joked, “At all. Hopefully Paramount doesn’t read this.”

The brothers aren’t completely done with “Stranger Things” either, they have a spinoff in the works that they will be "heavily creatively involved" with, but it won’t be a full-time thing.

"We’ll, hopefully, be writing and directing something new in the meantime, helping shepherd it along,” Ross said.

“Stranger Things” Season 5 is being broken up into three release blocks over the holidays. The first four episodes arrive on November 26, over the Thanksgiving weekend. The next three episodes premiere on Christmas, followed by the finale, titled “The Rightside Up,” on New Year’s Eve.
