WASHINGTON (SBG) -- Two worlds collide as Barbie gets both a rebel- and imperial-inspired treatment.
Mattel's fashionista celebrated the unofficial "Star Wars" Day with the release of four new dolls. This isn't the first time Barbie has tackled the galaxy far, far away. In 2019, the toy giant released versions of Princess Leia, Darth Vader and R2-D2.
So far, Ken hasn't been reimagined for the "Star Wars" world, but there's always next year.
As for 2020s additions, get ready for Rey, Chewbacca, C-3PO and the classic stormtrooper.
The doll itself is pretty straightforward, with no need for interpretation. The design keeps fashion rather than combat in mind, unlike Daisy Ridley's character portrayed in the most recent trilogy.
If you're a Chewie fanatic, maybe you'll appreciate this interpretation... that is, if you enjoy heaps of faux-fur.
Complete with glittering glasses and glorious hair, this C-3PO is emblazoned in gold, achieving that fabulous 70s look.
And finally, Barbie's visit to the dark side of the force takes cues from the stormtrooper uniform. This version replaces that bulky helmet with a trendy bob haircut and trades body armor for a tapered dress.
