UPDATE, May 31 | Punk rock band NOFX has issued an apology for comments made during a Las Vegas performance regarding the 1 October mass shooting.

"What we said in Vegas was s---- and insensitive and we are all embarrassed by our remarks," reads a statement posted on the band's verified Facebook page.

"So we decided we will all get together to discuss and write an in depth, sincere, and honest apology because that's what the people we offended and hurt deserve."

ORIGINAL | Critics say rock band NOFX crossed the line while performing at the Punk Rock Bowling & Music Festival in Las Vegas last Sunday.

According to TMZ, after they finished a song, frontman Fat Mike said, "We played a song about Muslims and we didn't get shot. Hooray."

The site says another band member responded to that saying, "I guess you only get shot in Vegas if you are in a country band."

But it didn't end there. "That [the massacre] sucked, but at least they were country fans and no punk rock fans."

Audience members can be heard groaning on a video posted on social media, then one of the band members said, "You were all thinking it."

Fifty-eight people lost their lives on October 1, 2017, when Stephen Paddock fired a hail of bullets from a Mandalay Bay suite into the Route 91 Harvest Festival, headlined by country star Jason Aldean. Over 500 others were injured.

Local radio hosts Dave & Mahoney from X1075, who play the band's music, called the comments "disgusting and callous." They said they no longer will support their music.

Stone Brewing also announced it was severing ties with NOFX, saying in a statement there would no longer be any festival sponsorship or production of their "collaboration beer."

"Punk rock is cool. These callous comments were the furthest thing from it," the statement reads.

The band responded to the criticism saying,"We decided we will all get together to discuss and write an in depth, sincere, and honest apology because that's what the people we offended and hurt deserve."
