RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) - A Richland County deputy is recovering after being injured on "Live PD."

The incident happened during Friday night's episode of the A&E show.

According to tweets from the Richland County Sheriff's Department and Senior Deputy Josh Newsom, the deputy was injured while chasing a suspect. Newsom was following the suspect over a fence when he was cut.

The suspect was also cut by the fencing, and his blood came in contact with Newsom's cut during the arrest.

Newsom, who is also a K-9 specialist with the department, was taken to the hospital after the arrest for testing. However, the deputy said on Saturday that the results are "looking clear."

Newsom is featured on "Live PD" with K-9 Officer Bali.
