Bounty hunter's wife, Beth Chapman, dead at 51

WASHINGTON (SBG) - Beth Chapman, who starred in "Dog the Bounty Hunter" with her husband, Duane "Dog" Chapman died Wednesday.

Duane confirmed the death of his wife in a tweet. She was 51 years at the time of her death.

"This is the time she would wake up to go hike Koko Head mountain," Duane posted. "Only today, she hiked the stairway to heaven. We all love you, Beth. See you on the other side."

Beth was atQueen's Medical Center in Honolulu and was placed into a medically induced coma Monday. She went to the hospital after having trouble breathing and a persistent cough. The Associated Press reported that she lost consciousness at one point so, doctors chose to put her into a coma to spare her from pain.

Leading up to the hospitalization she had fought a long battle with throat cancer, first being diagnosed with stage II in 2017. Beth then had surgery to remove a tumor and by December of that year, she was cancer-free.

A short time later she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.

The "Dog the Bounty Hunter" series on A&E was canceled in 2012 and went on to another show” Dog & Beth: On The Hunt" on the Country Music Television.

Beth Chapman presided as the president of the Professional Bail Agents of the United States. She was the youngest woman to receive a bail license in the state of Colorado, until her daughter.

She married Duane in 2006 after being together for 16 years.

Funeral services will be held in Honolulu and Coloradofamily spokeswoman, Mona Wood-Sword, said to The Associated Press.
