Pearl Jam announces new album, tour
SEATTLE (KOMO) -- Pearl Jam, the iconic Seattle music group that helped put the region's music on the map in the 1990s, has announced a new album and tour -- but there are no stops as of now for the Seattle area.
The band tweeted information about the upcoming tour and its eleventh album, which will be named "Gigaton", Monday morning before also posting additional details about the new project on PearlJam.com.
The group didn't say what theme of the project but member Mike McCready hinted that the album will explore person-to-person interactions.
“Making this record was a long journey,” explains Mike McCready . “It was emotionally dark and confusing at times, but also an exciting and experimental road map to musical redemption. Collaborating with my bandmates on 'Gigaton' ultimately gave me greater love, awareness and knowledge of the need for human connection in these times."
The new music will go on sale on March 27 in the U.S. and abroad.
The album marks the group's first studio production since "Lightning Bolt."
The tour to support the new album will kick off on March 18 in Toronto and run through July 23 with a final date in Amsterdam.
As of now, there are no stops for Seattle or Washington state -- or Oregon for that matter.
There are four dates in California, including performances in San Diego, Los Angeles and Oakland.
Assuming ticket sales meet expectations, the band could add additional dates that might include Seattle.
