Ozzy Osbourne dies at 76
Rock star Ozzy Osbourne has died at the age of 76, just weeks after his final live performance.
In a statement to Sky News, his family said, "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love."
No cause of death was given, but Osbourne had been living with Parkinson’s disease since 2003 and had endured other health issues over the past few years, including a fall that aggravated an old spinal injury, requiring multiple surgeries.
On July 5, Osbourne performed his last concert with heavy metal band Black Sabbath, in their hometown of Birmingham, England.
The show was called “Back to the Beginning” and featured some of their greatest hits like “War Pigs,” “N.I.B.,” “Iron Man” and “Paranoid,” according to People Magazine.
As he performed on stage, he told fans, "You've no idea how I feel - thank you from the bottom of my heart,” per Sky News.
Osbourne made a name for himself as a rock star with Black Sabbath as well as his solo work, and was known for his struggles with addiction and alcohol, as well as his onstage antics.
At one point, he was known as “The Prince of Darkness,” and infamously bit the head off a bat during a performance.
But younger audiences eventually came to know his softer side thanks to the MTV reality series, “The Osbournes,” featuring Osbourne, his wife Sharon Osbourne, and two of their three kids, Jack and Kelly.
Osbourne is survived by Sharon, Aimee, Kelly, and Jack, as well as two older children, Jessica and Louis, from his first marriage to Thelma Riley, as well as grandchildren.
