University of Tennessee and National Football League (NFL) Hall of Fame member Peyton Manning is hanging up his gold jacket for a professor's jacket by joining the UT College of Communication and Information faculty.

The former quarterback has been appointed a professor of practice at the school starting with the 2023 fall term.

In a media release announcing the news, Manning says "My time as a student in the College of Communication and Information was a foundational experience during which I learned critical skills and messaging techniques that I continue to put to use almost daily. I look forward to working with the college's talented faculty, and directly with students in an effort to ensure they are well prepared for their future careers."

Manning graduated from UT in 1997 with a degree in speech communication and is the founder of the entertainment company Omaha Productions.

His role will cover a variety of topics where he will teach sports reporting, video production and performance, leadership and communication, and public speaking, according to the school.
