I love the world that director/writer Gareth Edwards and screenwriter Chris Weitz have conjured up for their sci-fi adventure “The Creator” so much that I would love to spend more time there than the 2 hours and 15 minutes that the theatrical cut gives us. I want to see more of the mundane, day-to-day life in both the wastelands that were Los Angeles and the rice fields of New Asia. I’m still quite taken with the movie, but a deeper dive might have been more rewarding.

Of the other titles coming to digital this week I’m most interested in “Before, Now & Then” and “The Night Owl.”

Pushing towards the holiday season, the physical releases for the week mix recently-in-theaters (“The Nun II,” “The Equalizer 3” and “Sounds of Freedom”) with numerous classics coming to 4K for the first time (“Duel," “The Last Picture Show,” “Rudy,” and “Terms of Endearment”). Shout! Factory have also thrown in a Sonny Chiba collection. I’m looking forward to finding the space to explore seven Chiba films that I haven’t seen.
