SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) - Another busy month's worth of releases are coming from Netflix, with more than 25 Netflix Original titles mixed between the more traditional television and film titles. Here are nine that are worthy of your attention.

"Don't Think Twice"(2016)

Mike Birbigliais one of the smartest and funniest stand-up comedians in the business today. With "Don't Think Twice" he explores what happens when a member of a New York City improv troupe makes it big and doesn't take his former cohorts along for the ride. The cast includes comedians Keegan-Michael Key, Gillian Jacobs,Kate Micucci and Birbiglia.

"Stake Land II"(2016)

"Stake Land" (2010) is one of the best horror films made in the last 20 years. It was an original take on the vampire genre that managed to be smart and gory at the same time. "Stake Land II" isn't nearly as good; it takes place years after the original film's dystopian setting as New Eden, the hoped-for utopia where mankind can rise from the ashes, is destroyed. The key problem is that writer/director Jim Mickle served only as a producer. Still, we do have writer/actorNick Damiciand that makes the film at least a curiosity for fans of the original release as well as those looking for post-apocalyptic scares.

"Sherlock": Series 4 (2016)

Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman return in this modern take on the legendary Sherlock Holmes stories. The fourth go-round isn't nearly as witty as the first three, but there is still plenty here to have me hoping that the teased fifth series comes into being.

"Riverdale": Season 1 (2016)

Pulled from the pages of "Archie Comics," "Riverdale" debuted early this year on the CW and attracted enough attention to get a second-season order. I haven't watched the show, but considering how my Twitter feed exploded every time it aired, there's clearly something addictive found within.

"Inglourious Basterds" (2009)

"Inglourious Basterds" finds a group of Jewish-Americanguerrilla soldiers fighting their way throughGerman-occupied France while a victim of the Nazi occupation plots a particularly gruesome revenge. I know that there is a large group that sees everything Quentin Tarantinodoes as essential viewing. I find his career to be far more uneven, but "Inglourious Basterds" is certainly one of his better efforts and the performances byBrad Pitt,Mélanie Laurent,Christoph Waltz andDiane Kruger are unmissable.

"Southpaw" (2015)

After his wife is killed and his child is taken away from him, boxer Billy Hope (Jake Gyllenhaal) looks to put his life back together. Written by Kurt Sutter ("Sons of Anarchy") and directed byAntoine Fuqua, "Southpaw" wasn't nearly good enough to earn Gyllenhaal the Oscar nomination he was hoping for, but he still gives an engaging performance that makes the film worth watching.

"War Machine"—NETFLIX ORIGINAL FILM

Brad Pitt stars as a four-star general sent toAfghanistan to bring the war to an end in this dark satire fromDavid Michôd("Animal Kingdom") based on the novel "The Operators" by Michael Hastings.

"Marvel's Doctor Strange" (2016)

I quite liked "Doctor Strange." The story itself was fairly familiar, but the use of magic and stunning visuals gave the movie an individuality that isn't necessarily guaranteed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe these days.

"The Flash": Season 3 (2016)

"The Flash": Season 3and "Supergirl": Season 2are simply listed as "coming soon," which suggests they'll arrive by the end of the month. Whereas Marvel seems to have the upper hand when it comes to cinematic releases, DC Comics is killing it with its television series.
