SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Halloween is nearly here and that means it's time to say goodbye to October and officially dive into the holiday season. This week is dominated by catalog titles and a few interesting digital releases.

New Titles and Catalog Releases

  • Cold Light of Day - Based on Scottish serial killer Dennis Nilsen, known as the Muswell Hill Murderer, this docudrama is often compared to "Portrait of a Serial Killer" because of its unflinching portrayal of depravity.
  • Daughters of Darkness -Harry Kümel's gothic horror starring Delphine Seyrig asCountess Bathory, a vampire who seduces a newlywed couple (Danielle Ouimet, John Karlen). Kümel is more focused on the psychological aspect of the tale, but the eroticism remains.
  • The Last Starfighter - Released in 1984, "The Last Starfighter" was one of the first films to use computer generated graphics (another being "Tron"). It tells the story of a young man who is recruited to be a starfighter pilot based on his ability to beat an arcade game. Arrow Film's release features a new transfer taken from a 4K scan of the original 35mm negative.
  • Mr. Topaze - Peter Sellers directs and stars in this 1961 filmbased on Marcel Pagnol's play aboutAuguste Topaze, a teacher, who is fired from his job when he refuses to give a wealthy student a higher grade than he deserves. After, Auguste unwitting goes to work for a swindler to be the face of his new scheme.
  • Parasite - The Criterion Collection's release adds new interviews, an audio commentary from directorBong Joon-ho, a black and white version of the film, a feature-lengthLumiere Master Class, storyboards and so much more. The previously released Blu-ray had less than 20 minutes of bonus features. Sadly, the film isn't presented in 4K , but every other aspect of this release is top shelf.
  • Rambo: The Complete SteelBook Collection - Studios take note: If you're going to release a box set in this day and age, please make it as eye catching as this 4K Rambo set. It's a Best Buy exclusive featuring all five films from the franchise.

Animated & Television Series

  • Ben 10 Versus the Universe: The Movie - We've seen Ben Tennyson grow up, but now we're seeing his childhood for a second time as the franchise shifted back to the original premise of the series in 2016. The show follows the adventures of Ben, a 10-year-old boy, who discovers a magical device that allows him to transform into various aliens.
  • The Flintstones: The Complete Series - All six seasons of the classic television series that ran between 1961-1966 and two films, the "The Man Called Flintstone" from 1966 and the out of place "The Flintstones and WWE: Stone Age Smackdown!" from 2015. While the series in 1080p, the films are presented in 480i. The series looks fantastic and comes with a bevy of bonus features.
  • My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising - Jumping into the world of the My Hero Academia has been something of a cold water experience. I'm dazed, trying to grasp for something solid to hold on to. The premise behind the My Hero Academia series is that most people in the world now have superpowers (known as Quirks). Izuku Midoriya, however, does not. He'd still like to be a hero. "Heroes Rising" comes after three television seasons and the feature "Two Heroes." It's an end, but I'm intrigued to see how we got here.
  • Tom and Jerry: Nutcracker Tale - Originally released in on DVD in 2007, "Tom and Jerry: Nutcracker Tale" plays loose and fast withE. T. A. Hoffmann's story with Jerry playing the role of the Nutcracker and Tom playing as a member of the Mouse King's gang. • Fleabag: The Complete Series -While most would take the money and run,Phoebe Waller-Bridge, creator and star of "Fleabag" decided that after two seasons she had explored the character and it was time for whatever might come next. The series follows the adventures of Fleabag (Waller-Bridge) as she navigates modern life in London.
  • Hidden: Series 2 - This Welsh mystery/thriller has been described as a "personal drama" asDCI Cadi John (Sian Reese-Williams) returns to her hometown to care for her father and investigate the crimes committed to and by those she has known since her youth.
