New DVD, Blu-ray and digital release highlights for the week of December 14-20, 2020

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — We're inching our way to the point of no return (or at least the point where online retailers will no longer guarantee delivery by Christmas). While most of this week's releases fall into various niches, the release of "Tenet" is something of a major affair and a capstone to a year that Hollywood (and many others) would like to forget.

• Tenet -Unlike many ofChristopher Nolan's films, "Tenet" isn't an intellectual exercise. It's simply a time-travel movie packed with action. So, sit back and enjoy the spectacle and try not to over think experience. From a technical standpoint, this is a top contender for best 4K release of 2020. (Full Review)
• Tremors -Released in 1990, "Tremors" is a film about giant worms tormenting a town in a remote part of Nevada. It's a creature feature, a throwback to the silly science fiction films of the 1950s. I can't speak for the numerous sequels, but the original is a fabulous B-movie.
• The Opening Act -Jimmy O. Yang stars as a aspiring stand-up comedian who, when given a golden opportunity, has to decide if he wants to risk the established life he has to pursue his life-long dream.
• The Wolf of Snow Hollow -Jim Cummings's werewolf comedy wasn't my cup of tea. It did, however, receive some fantastic reviews from many of my colleagues who enjoyed the off-kilter comedy and over-the-top gore. I wanted to be watching "Fargo."
• Ip Man: The Complete Collection 4K -All four of Donnie Yen's films starring as IP Man, the legendary grandmaster who taught Bruce Lee, in 4K for the first time. This limited set also includes a movie franchise compendium book and a double-sided poster.

• Alone - A kidnapped woman escapes into a forest where she'll have to survive the elements and keep out of sight.
• The Beach House -Life finds Emily and Randall, college sweethearts, heading in opposite directions. In hope of revitalizing the relationship, the pair escape to Randall’s family’s beach house only to discover that Mitch and Jane, friends of his parents, have already settled in. When night comes, a strange mist descends upon the seaside town. (Full Review)
• The Dark and the Wicked -A family gathers at a remote farmhouse to witness the passing of their patriarch. A darkness passes over them and inhabits their dreams.
• Echo Boomers -Michael Shannon stars in this crime drama about a group college graduates who decide to steal from the rich and give to themselves.
• The Expanse: Season Four - Based on the novels byJames S. A. Corey, this popular sci-fi series takes place in the distant future when humankind have populated the galaxy.
• Amores Perros -Alejandro G. Iñárritu's debut film is a drama about three intersecting lives connected by a car crash. Released in 1990, the film now joins The Criterion Collection with a new director-approved transfer and a host of new bonus features.
• Vigilante 4K - This violent 1982 thriller sees a man seeking revenge after the men who attacked his wife and killed his son are set free by a corrupt judge. Blue Underground's release has been hailed as their best 4K to date (which, considering how warmly their previous releases have been welcomed, is saying something).

Digital

• Come Away - A reimagined take on the "Peter Pan" narrative featuring performances fromDavid Oyelowo andAngelina Jolie.
• Radium Girls -"Radium Girls" tells the story of sisters Josephine and Bessie (Abby Quinn, Joey King) who fought for workers rights when they discovered that their sister died from radium exposure at the watch factory where they work.
• Spiral - A couple moves to a small town to give their 16-year-old daughter a better chance at life. Their new neighborhood isn't the ideal bastion it appears to be.
