I think I've officially put the 2022 Sundance Film Festival to bed and I'm slowly working my way back into the new normal. Whatever that means. It's all continuing chaos to me. On to this week's releases...

Digital

  • House of Gucci - Fashion, greed, and jealousy abound in "House of Gucci." Lady Gaga stars asPatrizia Reggiani, wife of Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver), in this fact-based drama from director Ridley Scott. What begins as an improbable love story ends in murder. Fashion, greed, jealousy. [Interview with Lady Gaga]

New on DVD & Blu-ray

  • Ghostbusters: Afterlife -Looking to reconnect with its fanbase, "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" is heavy on nostalgia as a single mother (Carrie Coon) is forced to move into her late father's home with her two children, Trevor and Phoebe (Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace). Stuck in a new town, Trevor and Phoebe discover the real reason their estranged grandfather lived in the middle of nowhere. Paul Rudd co-stars along with a host of familiar faces from the past. There was a lot to like about the film and a few things that I found distracting, I love Grace's Phoebe and the direction that the film wants to take the franchise next.

  • Clifford the Big Red Dog -Emily (Darby Camp) feels like an outcast at school. Her mother does her best, but being a single parent is never easy. When Emily’s mom (Sienna Guillory) is forced to go on a business trip, Casey (Jack Whitehall), Emily’s delinquent uncle, is asked to take care of her. On their first day together, Emily finds a tent filled with unusual pets. Amongst the animals is a small, red dog. A dog that will only grow as large as the amount of love Emily gives it. A bit too silly for adults, but perfect for kids. [Full Review]

  • The Spine of Night -Genre fans will find the fantasy element and the rotoscoped animation familiar as writers/directors Philip Gelatt and Morgan Galen King channel Ralph Bakshi's brand of adult animation in this horror fantasy focused on a magical flower that contains the secrets of the universe. If films like "Heavy Metal" and "Fire and Ice" spoke to you in the early 1980s, "The Spine of Night" will connect with you in the here and now.

  • Written on the Wind - Douglas Sirk's ode to the excessiveness of a Texan oil family fueled by alcohol and greed is a shockingly robust drama that sees Lauren Bacall star as Lucy Moore, a secretary, who marries into the wealthy Hadley family and all the unhappiness that surrounds them. Co-stars Robert Stack and Rock Hudson.

  • Superhost - Claire and Teddy are a pair of travel vloggers who visit popular rental homes in hopes of attracting viewers. But their numbers are dwindling and they're running out of ideas. So, imagine their joy when Rebecca, the host of their latest adventure, proves to be a compelling character who will do anything to get a good review. Yes, there is clearly something wrong with Rebecca but as long as she gets clicks Claire and Teddy are prepared to live with her madness.

  • Wayne's World - Mike Myers and Dana Carvey brought their popular SNL characters Wayne and Garth to the big screen 30 years ago with "Wayne's World." Wayne and Garth have a public access TV show that they produce in Wayne's mother's basement. When a television station offers to buy the rights to the show, the pair see an opportunity to follow their dreams, get the girl, and a record contract. A sequel followed a year later and sees Wayne and Garth trying to organize a music festival. Nothing ever goes exactly to plan.
