SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — The second week in August brings a B.J. Novak's interesting (in a good way) directorial debut "Vengeance," the animated distraction that is "Paws of Fury," Lena Dunham's sex positive "Sharp Stick;" the latest entry in the Sniper franchise; the Japanese action film "Baby Assassins;" a pandemic horror vacation in "Camping Trip;" a historical drama in "Lost Illusions;" the WWII documentary "Syndrome K;" and the horror mystery "When I Consume You." I've only had the chance to see "Vengeance" (which I recommend) and "Paws of Fury" (it's just for kids).
This week's Blu-ray and DVD releases include the latest (and not remotely greatest) "Jurassic World: Dominion;" Scott Derrickson's solid horror yarn "Black Phone" featuring Ethan Hawke; an earlySafdie Brothers film "Daddy Longlegs" from the Criterion Collection; and 4K releases of the original "Red Dawn" and the first three Child's Play films.
Check back on Friday for a rundown of all the new theatrical, VOD and streaming titles like "Echo" from Netflix and "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" from Disney+.
