Neil Diamond diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, retires from touring

Neil Diamond, one of the most iconic entertainers of the past few generations announced the abrupt ending of his touring career, cancelling a tour an international tour in the process, after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

The legendary singer, songwriter, and performer made the announcement on his website.

The news release stated he the onset of the disease made it difficult for him to travel and perform on a large-scale basis with doctors advising him to cancel the third leg of his 50th anniversary tour in Australia and New Zealand, which was scheduled to take place in March.

It is with great reluctance and disappointment that I announce my retirement from concert touring. I have been so honored to bring my shows to the public for the past 50 years,” said Diamond. ”My sincerest apologies to everyone who purchased tickets and were planning to come to the upcoming shows.
I plan to remain active in writing, recording and other projects for a long time to come.
My thanks goes out to my loyal and devoted audiences around the world. You will always have my appreciation for your support and encouragement. This ride has been ‘so good, so good, so good’ thanks to you.


Diamond will turn 77 on Wednesday.
