There’s many ways to mark a milestone, but we have to admit this is a first for us.

Jenny Lewis, singer with indie band Rilo Kiley, turned 50 on January 8 and to celebrate the occasion, she married her dog.

Yes, her dog.

A cockapoo named Bobby Rhubarb no less, according to Rolling Stone.

Lewis shared a few Polaroid style photos on her X page, including her in a full white wedding gown with a veil, a cake with the message “For better or worse, I do!” on one tier and “JL50!” on the other, as well as a more formal photo with the pooch by her side.

“I married my dog for my 50th birthdayBLESS!” she wrote.

The birthday party/wedding guest list included Phantom Planet’s Alex Greenwald, Morgan Nagler, and Ben Gibbard of Postal Service, another band Lewis was involved with. She and Gibbard performed Postal Service’s hit “Such Great Heights” at the reception, per The Independent.

Lewis told Rolling Stone in 2023 that adopting her puppy/husband(?) helped her through a rough time in her forties.

“I was in a really rough spot. I’d been isolated for over a year, quarantining totally on my own, and I had to find things to get me out of the house. The truck provided that,” Lewis said, referring to the lyrics of her song “Puppy and a Truck.”

“I don’t have any kids, but this dog opened me up in so many ways — being responsible for a soul and caring for something outside of yourself. It’s been a really important lesson for me. Kind of obvious, I guess, but I had no idea. I had fantasies of owning a white wolf. Instead I ended up with a cockapoo.”

No word on a registry for the happy couple or where the honeymoon is happening. But beginning in May, Lewis will be joining her band, Rilo Kiley, on the road for reunion shows throughout the U.S. and Europe.
