After 25 years off the air, the Muppet Babies are finally returning to television.

Disney Junior announced Wednesday that a CG-animated reboot of the fondly-remembered series, which ran from 1984 to 1991, will premiere on the channel in early 2018.

“Muppet Babies” is co-produced by Disney Junior, Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media’s (DCPI) Content & Media group, and The Muppets Studio.

“We are proud, and a little bit giddy, to begin production on our new version of the much-loved Muppet Babies,” Disney Junior Executive Vice President Nancy Kanter said in a statement. “Parents will delight in seeing their favorite Muppets in the mixed animation style they remember from the original series, and kids will be introduced to this warm and zany world made just right for the Disney Junior audience.”

The plan is for each episode to include two 11-minute adventures aimed at kids ages 4 to 7.

“We hope to engage and delight the nostalgic fans while also entertaining new kids, parents and diverse audiences through heart and humor as only the Muppets can deliver,” Muppets Studio Vice President Debbie McClellan said.

And nostalgic fans were indeed engaged and delighted on social media Wednesday. Mostly.
