WASHINGTON (SBG) —Get ready to bend and snap because "Legally Blonde 3" just got a major update!
Mindy Kaling has reportedly signed on to write the third installment of the series, along with Dan Goor.
Reese Witherspoon played the iconic Elle Woods, a sorority queen turned hotshot lawyer, and it's her "Hello Sunshine" production company that's slated to spearhead the film.
The actress is expected to reprise her role nearly 20 years after the first movie was released.
The original "Legally Blonde," released in 2001, follows Witherspoon's character as she sets her sights on Harvard Law School in an attempt to win back an ex-boyfriend.
The 2003 sequel, "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde," follows her character to Washington, D.C. So, it's been nearly two decades since fans of the movie series have gotten anything new.
In 2018, the Oscar winner confirmed a new movie was in the works. Putting on her character's iconic bedazzled bikini, Witherspoon shared the news while relaxing in the pool.
