Mickey Rourke is denying he approved a $100,000 GoFundMe to help prevent him from being evicted.

In a video posted to his Instagram Monday, Rourke spoke out against the campaign and said he had no knowledge of it.

He said he was “frustrated” and “confused” as to why someone would set up the fund.

"That's not me, okay?" he said. "I'd rather, if I needed money, I wouldn't ask for no f----- charity. I'd rather stick a gun up my a-- and pull the trigger."

Referring to “whoever did this,” Rourke said, "I wouldn't know what a GoFundMe foundation is in a million years. My life is very simple, I wouldn't go to outside sources like that."

The GoFundMe was launched on Sunday morning, reportedly with the actor’s “full permission,” by Liya-Joelle Jones, a reported friend and member of Rourke’s management team, per The Hollywood Reporter.

She told the outlet, “Mickey is going through a very difficult time right now, and it’s been incredibly touching to see how many people care about him and want to help.”

"It is embarrassing. But I'm sure I'll get over it like anything else,” Rourke said.

The Oscar-nominee also reflected on his career, admitting, “I’ve done a really terrible job.”

"I wasn't diplomatic. I had to go to over 20 years of therapy to get over the damage that was done to me years ago. I worked very hard to work through that. I'm not that person anymore,” he continued.

He added, “I’m not that wild man I was twenty-something years ago. But you pay that price for your past.”

Rourke discouraged people from donating and encouraged people who already gave to “get it back.”

He added he planned on speaking with his lawyer about the GoFundMe and said he knows of only “one person I can think of that would do such a thing, and I hope it's not the person I'm thinking about. It's humiliating.”

The “Sin City” star shared he did borrow money from “a great friend of mine” in the past and had been in a “bad situation” with the place he was renting, although its unclear if he means the current home or a past rental.

Regardless, Rourke said he “would never ask strangers or fans or anybody for a nickel. That's not my style."

The GoFundMe has reached its $100,000 goal, but the actor insisted he won’t take a dime of it and will bounce back on his own. “Things will get back to whatever normal is,” he said, reiterating he wants people to get their money back from the campaign.

Rourke received a three-day eviction notice on December 18, per The Los Angeles Times. His lease was signed in May 2025 at a rate of $5200 per month and later raised to $7,000 per month.

At the time of the notice, he owed $59,100 in unpaid rent.
