Michelle Obama's 'Becoming' documentary now out on Netflix

WASHINGTON (SBG) -- Obama. It's a legacy that carries a lot of weight. People all across the United States, even throughout the world, have an opinion when you say the name. But, what happens when you're the one who bears it?

Michelle Obama. You know her name, you know her face, but do you really know the former first lady?

“So little of who I am happened in those eight years, so much more of who I was happened before,"Michelle Obama says in the documentary.

"Becoming" was released Wednesday, giving viewers a chance to get to know her a little better.

"I am from the southside of Chicago. That tells you as much about me as you need to know," Michelle says at one point during filming.

The documentary provides never-before-seen photos from her childhood and stories from former President Barack Obama, and her two daughters, Sasha and Malia.

Michelle herself shares the stories of the people she met after she released her memoir, titled the same as her documentary.

Michelle has been actively promoting the documentary's release on social media, adding that she hopes people will find "some inspiration and joy in this film.
