Actor Mark Wahlberg toured his new Chevy dealership in west Columbus Monday.

Wahlberg recently bought the Bobby Layman Chevrolet dealership on West Broad Street. The actor said he plans to be involved in the day-to-day operations of the dealership citing his longtime love of cars.

"I've always been a huge car guy," Wahlberg said. "This is a dream come true for me so we're really looking forward to being part of the community here. I think the city picked us and we're really excited to be here. So much great history here. The people are fantastic. It reminds me a lot of where I grew up in Boston."

Wahlberg said one of his last "real" jobs was working in a mechanic's shop. He said he wants to be a hands-on owner.

"We're going to be as involved as absolutely possible," he said. "I've got a day job but this is something I'm really excited and passionate about so we're going to be here."

The Hollywood star posed for pictures with several customers and also signed the dashboard of the first car sold after Wahlberg became the owner.

Many viewers have asked if Wahlberg, a well-known sports fan, would be interested in purchasing the Columbus Crew SC to prevent it from moving to Austin, TX. Negotiations by several local investors interested in buying the team have been going on for months.

ABC6/FOX28 asked Wahlberg if he would have any interest buying the team.

“Actually, you know what, I certainly would," Wahlberg said. "My dear friend Bob Kraft has not only (owns) the (New England) Patriots, but he owns the New England Revolution as well. I have a bunch of people who are involved. I think that may be something we need to discuss. I became a huge, huge soccer fan. This World Cup really got me.”

Wahlberg said he was touring sites for a Wahlburgers restaurant while in Columbus. He said he plans to open one in Central Ohio soon.
