Mark Wahlberg donates 1.3M face masks to students, teachers across US

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (WOAI/KABB) – Actor Mark Wahlberg has donated 1.3 million face masks to students and teachers around the country.

San Antonio ISD officials say the district received 100,000 three-ply, disposable face masks to help combat the coronavirus pandemic.

"We are thrilled to have caught the attention of Mark Wahlberg," officials said. "We greatly appreciate the donation as these masks help us meet the challenges of this moment. Wearing face masks is an important safety protocol we’ve put in place across our schools and offices, and we value everyone who steps up to help us protect our students and staff."

Performance Inspired, Wahlberg's nutrition brand, partnered with Accelerate360 and lifestyle brand LifeToGo to provide the masks.

"This is a great opportunity to partner with LifeToGo and help our students and educators across the country to stay healthy and safe so they can focus on education," said Wahlberg.

Schools in the following cities also received masks: Bentonville, Arkansas; Boise, Idaho; Chicago; Cincinnati, Ohio; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Lakeland, Florida; Minneapolis; Portland, Orego; Quincy, Massachusetts; Rochester, New York; Salisbury, North Carolina; and Woonsocket, Rhode Island.
