WASHINGTON (TND) — Christmas queen Mariah Carey sent flowers to Brenda Lee to congratulate her on reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree."
Lee shared a photo of the flowers on X, formerly known as Twitter, thanking Carey for the sweet note and wishing her a merry Christmas.
"Dearest Ms Brenda, Congratulations on. your historic #1. Have a Merry Christmas. Love, Mariah," the card attached to the bouquet reads.
Brenda Lee's holiday classic reached the top of the charts for the first time -- 65 years after its release.
Originally recorded in 1958, it hit the Billboard Hot 100 in 1960 at No. 64 and peaked at No. 14 two weeks after its debut.
For its 65th anniversary, the song finally got a music video including cameos from country stars Tanya Tucker and Trisha Yearwood.
According to data from Luminate, the song received nearly 35 million streams, 21 million radio impressions and sold 3,000 downloads during the week of Nov. 24.
