FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCIV) - Famed island singer Jimmy Buffett was spotted on Folly Beach this week surfing waves in advance of Hurricane Florence.

Buffett, who has a song entitled, "Surfing in a Hurricane," posted a quote from his song on Instagram Wednesday, along with a photo and the hastag #follybeachsurfing.

Becca Savage Lovett, an employee of Palmetto Parking, took a funny photo with Buffett on Folly Beach Tuesday morning, when she was introduced to him by a mutual friend.

"Jimmy was super sweet and had a great sense of humor. It was his idea to pose for a 'parking ticket' pic,'" she said.

Lovett added that she didn't really give the singer a parking ticket.

While Buffett's social media post was all smiles in the sunshine, he ended it with a more serious note for residents.

"Respect mother nature, please be safe and listen to your local authorities," he posted.
