For Dr. Eugene Williams Sr., the song "Lift Every Voice and Sing" is more than just lyrics to an instrumental. It's more of a fight song he listens to every morning.

Williams remembers listening to the song even as a little boy in Orange, Virginia.

"It gave me strength, it gave me power, it gave me fight and because it did that, I thought this is a powerful song," Williams said.

Six months ago, Williams had an epiphany after asking Alexa on his Amazon Echo to play it one more time.

"Ever since then I said, oh my, I've got to move this," Williams said.

Williams is on a mission to have it sung before every NBA game in the month of February. He's reached out to several teams including the Washington Wizards, Cleveland Cavaliers andGolden State Warriors, who were already scheduled to sing the song on Feb. 6.

Williams hopes there are many more performances to come.
