Las Vegas embraces Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce engagement
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Las Vegas is getting in on the big sports and entertainment news of the week.
Social media accounts on Tuesday quickly embraced Taylor Swift's announcement that she and Kansas City Chiefs star player Travis Kelce are engaged to be married.
The city of Las Vegas shared a post to X reading, "From Enchanted to End Game, love stories just hit different in Las Vegas.
"In our Wildest Dreams, Taylor Swift's big day would be right here because after all, we’re the wedding capital of the world."
@Vegas, the X account for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, and the Vegas Golden Knights joined the fun.
"Showgirl wedding when?" the @Vegas account asked while quoting a post about the engagement.
"Vegas wedding???" the Golden Knights added while tagging both Swift and Kelce.
Graceland Wedding Chapel in Downtown Las Vegas shared a look back at an illustrated Sports Illustrated cover for Super Bowl LVIII.
The cartoon cover featured Swift and Kelce at the Elvis-themed chapel.
"We knew before you knew," Graceland Chapel's Facebook post states.
"The doors of Graceland Wedding Chapel are always open for you Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce."
The power couple is no stranger to Las Vegas. Swift famously managed to arrive in time for Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium last year. She watched as Kelce and the Chiefs triumphed over the San Francisco 49ers in overtime, and joined her then-boyfriend in the championship celebration on the Las Vegas Strip after the game.
A few days after the game and victory parties, Kelce gushed about Las Vegas as a host city.
"Seeing how much fun you were having and how much energy the city felt like it had, I didn't go- like I said, I didn't go out on the Strip until after the game, and you could just feel how electric it was," he told his brother, Jason, on their podcast "New Heights."
Swift has also generated new speculation about Las Vegas after revealing her upcoming album title, "The Life of a Showgirl."
According to costume designer Bob Mackie, one of her showgirl costumes for the album cover was originally designed for the "Jewel Finale" of the Las Vegas revue show "Jubilee!"
