LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The long-awaited grand opening of the Sphere in Las Vegas was truly a historic event Friday night.
And the venue lived up to its hype as the band U2 hosted a spectacular performance that left thousands of fans in awe.
"It is a night for the books as U2 christens the stage at the Sphere Las Vegas, a first-of-its-kind entertainment venue in the world," remarked one concertgoer.
"My dad's been a big fan all my life, so our whole family has always listened to their music and stuff," added another excited attendee.
Over 17,000 fans filled the venue on opening night.
Unsure of what to expect inside the venue but eager to find out, fans lined up for hours before the show, desperate to finally experience the captivating space that had been the subject of months of previews.
"When I saw this, I said we have to go just based on seeing this on a YouTube video," shared another enthusiastic concertgoer.
Opening night also drew celebrity guests, including Diplo and Dakota Fanning.
