Lady Gaga releases new song and Tim Burton-directed music video for 'Wednesday' season 2
Lady Gaga is making her debut in “Wednesday” season two, part two today, and released a new song and music video to go with her spooky role.
“The Dead Dance” is a “Thriller”-esque dance track with an equally creepy music video directed by “Wednesday” director Tim Burton.
The video was reportedly filmed on Mexico’s infamous Island of the Dolls, a place filled with abandoned and rotting dolls.
Burton praised Gaga, telling Variety earlier this year, “She’s such an artist working with her is endlessly inspiring.”
On “Wednesday,” Gaga will play a Nevermore teacher named Rosaline Rotwood, whose mysterious past intertwines with Jenna Ortega’s titular gothic teen, Wednesday.
Speaking at Spotify and Netflix’s Wednesday Graveyard Gala in New York City last week, Gaga said, “I had a wonderful time working on Wednesday season two, even just being a small part of the show.”
She continued, “I loved working with Tim Burton and Jenna and everyone here, it’s so incredible. Thank you. I’m also here to confirm my song ‘The Dead Dance’ is coming.”
“The Dead Dance” has been added to an extended version of her latest studio album, “Mayhem.”
Per Variety, Gaga connected with the “Wednesday” team after season one and wrote “The Dead Dance” specifically for the show.
“It’s not ‘Bloody Mary,’ and it’s not a remix,” music supervisor Jen Malone told Tudum. “It’s a brand-new Gaga song, and she’s an icon, a once-in-a-lifetime artist who we got to work with. And it’s perfect in every way. This is exactly what the fans want.”
“Wednesday” season two, part two is streaming now on Netflix.
