NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) -- Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman are donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to help fight the devastating wildfires in Australia.

The country music star from Nashville tweeted on Saturday that his family was donating $500,000 to the Rural Fire Services who is fighting the wildfires. Urban and his wife, Nicole Kidman, who has dual Australian/United States citizenship, were in Sydney for Christmas.

The Rural Fire Service said Saturday that there are 150 brush fires burning.

Dozens of lives have been lost and thousands of homes destroyed.

Other musicians have donated, such as Pink, who also donated $500,000, as well as Dan + Shay.

Hundreds of millions of animals have reportedly been killed in the fires. Australia is home to more species than any other developed country and most of their wildlife is found nowhere else in the world, according to the Australian Wildlife Conservancy.

Keith Urban just headlined the Music City Midnight New Year's Eve event in Nashville.
