Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have officially called it quits and ended their engagement. Their reps released a joint statement on the breakup saying, "Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting."
The statement shared with Us Weekly on July 3 went onto say, "They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is - and always will be - raising their daughter with love stability and mutual respect."
Split rumors have been bubbling for months, but this is the first time the reps have confirmed the "Lord of the Rings" actor and "I Kissed a Girl" singer are no longer together.
The exes had been engaged for six years and together for nine. Bloom popped the question on Valentine’s Day in 2019, and they welcomed their 4-year-old daughter Daisy Dove in 2020.
Multiple outlets had reported “tension” between Perry and Bloom back to September 2024, when the two spent extended time apart and the ‘Woman’s World’ singer received negative feedback of her ‘143’ album.
“She was also disappointed in some of the tour reviews. It's put stress on their relationship," a source told People.
While Katy, 40, was on the road for her ‘Lifetimes’ world tour, the couple continued to fuel breakup speculation because they "never set a date for the wedding or got around to planning anything,” according to one source at US Weekly.
This isn’t the first time the pair have split. The ‘Hot n Cold’ singer and Bloom, 48, previously split in 2017 and rekindled their romance a year later – fans thought it would work out this time. Here’s a brief timeline of the pair’s relationship over the years.
The pair crossed paths at a Golden Globes after party in 2016 and bonded over burgers. Perry recalled on an ‘American Idol’ episode how it all went down.
"I met my boyfriend over In-N-Out. We were at the Golden Globes and we weren't together," she said. "So I had my security guard grab 10 In-N-Outs and all of a sudden I see my boyfriend's hand — he wasn't even sitting at our table — he just swoops in and he grabs it and I was like, 'Hey that's my burger!' "
Later that same year, Perry and Bloom attended the Cannes Film Festival and posted a pic spread out on hotel steps captioned "We cannes't."
After one year of dating, Perry and Bloom split up on good terms, putting out a joint statement to People, saying, “Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time.”
Fast forward to 2018, and Bloom and Perry stepped out as a couple for the Gala for the Global Ocean at the Opera of Monte-Carlo in Monaco.
The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor popped the question to Perry with a floral diamond ring and an over-the-top proposal on Valentine’s Day in 2019. She revealed how he asked for her hand in marriage on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ during a helicopter ride.
Like many brides and grooms, Perry and Bloom reportedly pushed pause on wedding plans rumored to be in Japan due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The proud parents announced their daughter’s birth by allowing Unicef to post a picture of the pair holding their newborn daughter’s tiny hands.
“We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” Bloom told the organization.
Fast forward to 2025, we're hoping Perry and Bloom can keep a healthy co-parenting relationship for their little girl despite not being together.
