WASHINGTON (SBG) — Jonah Hill swears more on-screen than any other film actor, one study finds.
Buzz Bingolooked through 3,500 films to find the most foul-mouthed actor of all time. It found that Hill was just ahead of Leonardo DiCaprio. Hill uttered 376 swear words throughout his career; DiCaprio at 361.
Other contenders included Al Pacino, Adam Sandler and Samuel L. Jackson.
"While there has been a general increase in the proportion of profanities used in films since the 1940s, swearing in cinema peaked in the 1990s with an average of 3 swear words per 1,000 words uttered, according to the scripts that we analyzed," Buzz Bingo said.
The site said they found a pattern among PG-rated movies with a similar trend. Movies in the 1990s averaged nearly 1.5 swears per 1,000 words.
The study found Martin Scorsese's 2013 flick, "The Wolf of Wall Street," had 715 expletives; the most of any movie the study analyzed. Both Hill and DiCaprio starred during the180-minute run time.
