Jon Gosselin 'could have died' shortly before his wedding from common health emergency
“Jon & Kate Plus 8” star Jon Gosselin had a scary medical emergency shortly before his recent wedding to Stephanie Lebo.
Gosselin opened up about the terrifying incident in an interview with The Daily Mail, recalling he initially felt a “grueling pain” in his leg.
The next morning, the pain had spread to his shoulder, and the following night, he woke up with a coughing fit.
“I was like, ‘Something is wrong,’” he said. “I coughed up what looked like silly putty – it was a blood clot.”
Gosselin drove himself to the hospital, which turned out to be “the biggest no-no” since he was later diagnosed with deep-vein thrombosis.
“If you have deep-vein thrombosis you could die at the wheel,” he said.
He recalled his soon-to-be wife Stephanie was “scared to death” and his daughter Hannah and son Collin were both “freaked out” when they learned of their father’s health issues.
After an MRI at the hospital, Gosselin was diagnosed with two bilateral pulmonary embolisms. He was treated with a number of medications to treat his condition and the blood clots.
“But I definitely could have died. If I had just stayed home that night, I could have had a real pulmonary embolism and just died,” the father of eight said.
Thankfully he recovered and went on to marry Stephanie in November 2025 with Hannah and Collin in attendance, as well as Stephanie’s daughter, Juliana.
Gosselin is currently estranged from his six other children, Cara, Mady, Alexis, Aaden, Leah, and Joel. His shares all eight with ex-wife Kate Gosselin.
