OKLAHOMA CITY (SBG) — Joseph Maldonado-Passage, better known as Joe Exotic from the hit Netflix series "Tiger King,"announced Wednesday that doctors have diagnosed him with an aggressive form of cancer.

"It is with a sad face that I have to tell you ... that my prostate biopsy came back with an aggressive cancer," Exotic wrote in a Twitter post while being held at a federal prison in Fort Worth, Texas.

Maldonado-Passage is waiting to be resentenced for his failed murder-for-hire plot to have Carole Baskin, who runs a big cats rescue sanctuary in Florida, killed. He's currently serving a 22-year prison sentence after being convicted for also violating federal wildlife laws in 2020.

The former Oklahoma zookeeper was prominently featured in the popular documentary "Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness."

A panel of judges in July ordered Maldonado-Passage be resentenced to a shorter term, finding the trial court wrongly treated the two convictions separately in calculating his prison term.

In a statement made through his Instagram, the blond mullet-sporting Maldonado-Passage said, “...there is no reason for the district attorney to drag this out, so I can go home and get treatment on my own or enjoy what life I have left with my loved ones!”

Maldonado said he is still waiting for the results of other tests from his doctors as well, adding on Twitter that he needs prayers and for "the world to be my voice to be released," saying there is no evidence he committed crimes.
