Jelly Roll has found an entirely new lease on life after losing 300 pounds.

“I’m such a better husband. I’m such a more present father,” he told our entertainment reporter Courtney Tezeno at the world premiere of Netflix’s “Star Search” on Tuesday night.

The father of two to daughter Bailee Ann, 17, and Noah, 10, said he is now able to keep up with his youngest.

“I wasn’t physically able, if my son wanted to go shoot basketball, I couldn’t physically do that,” the singer said. “I can go shoot for hours. I got more stamina than my 10-year-old. That’s important. So it’s a big deal for me.”

He also added, “I was saying it earlier, it’s affected my relationship with God a lot. I’ve got a lot closer to God in a lot of this.”

Jelly Roll’s weight loss also prompted him to try a new look by shaving his beard, but he admits no one, not even his family, was a fan of the smooth look.

“My kids hated it. Both my kids cried. I learned a life lesson, [I’m] never shaving the beard,” he said with a laugh.

The lack of beard was almost an issue for his new role as a judge on “Star Search,” alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar and Chrissy Teigen, with host Anthony Anderson.

“I thought it was going to grow back really fast like most men, like I’d have a five o’clock shadow in a day and a half, and it took months to grow back!” the 41-year-old said. “I thought it wasn’t going to be ready for ‘Star Search!' I was scared, it took like six and a half weeks.”

Thankfully, the beard is in full swing as Jelly Roll focuses on judging the up and coming talent on “Star Search."

“[It was a] no brainer,” he said of joining the show. “Netflix, Anthony Anderson, Sarah Michelle [Gellar], Chrissy Teigen, but most importantly, [it was] the opportunity to pour into young talent.”

He continued, “And when I say pour in, I mean give love, spread love, speak life into them. I get to speak life into these young kids because, there wasn’t somebody, maybe the oldest person up there was still 12 years younger than me maybe 20, so I feel like I’m the uncle of the show and I like that.”

As the “uncle” of the show, Jelly Roll admits he’s a gentler judge—for now.

“If I give a three, they crapped the bed,” he joked, adding, “If ya’ll ever see Sarah Michele give somebody a five, they cartwheeled while hitting a high C note!”

The “Son of a Sinner” singer continued, “No, I think it’s going to be fun. I think I’m going to be more tough on them further down the seasonOver the next five weeks I think I’ll get more critical. But for now I just want to encourage and love.”

The second night of the “Star Search” world premiere airs tonight on Netflix, with new episodes airing ever Tuesday and Wednesday night through February 17.
